HBL Task 1

The conflict occurred in the midst of the Vietnam War from 1962 to 1971. The Americans engaged in Herbicidal Warfare with their gas weapon code named “Agent Orange”. Agent Orange is the code name for a herbicide and defoliant which is contaminated with TCDD. This Herbicide weapon cased much agony and deaths of the Vietnamese people due to its horrific effects, namely birth defects and disabilities. Agent Orange was by far the most widely used herbicide in the range of herbicides developed by the American Army which ranged from Agent Blue to Agent White. Agent Orange resulted in 400,000 deaths and disabilities and caused 500,000 children to be born with birth defects. 4.8 million Vietnamese people were exposed to Agent Orange. Although the physical warfare is already over, the psychological one is still far from resolved.
